Discovering the Hidden Treasures of the Thornhill Mayne Memorial Library

About the walk

There is no better place to explore on the first Sunday of the new year than a library. The Chandra Shekhar Azad Park, previously known as Alfred Park, boasts of an interesting history and famous buildings. Join us as we explore the park before we reach the beautiful Allahabad Public Library. Also known as the Thornhill Mayne Memorial, nestled within the green campus, it beckons you. We will go through different paths to this remarkable example of Scottish Baronial architecture built in 1864. The large groups of sitting readers will make you realise that nothing can substitute books just yet.
