About the Talk

.....

Hindustani classical music is a centuries-old tradition in India and the tabla is an integral part of its evolution. In this talk, Rohen Bose sheds light on the transformation of Indian classical music, his association with the form and his life within this changing culture. Also speaking at this Baithak is Bihu Mukherjee, a leading Latin percussionist in India. Mukherjee will illustrate his experience of having several cultural identities—the life of practicing a South American tradition against a strong background of Bengali music.

The talk will be moderated by Biswadeep Chakraborty, a research fellow at the Digital Archive of North Indian Classical Music.
