Explore the Hidden Gems of Old Baroda

About the walk

Get ready to engage in an enticing encounter with some lesser-known spots in Baroda. We shall start our walk from the Jubilee Baug, which is a famous landmark in the centre of Raopura, but is rarely visited. We shall walk through the garden and discuss the evolution of the area and the important events that took place here in the past.

We shall then walk through the main road in Raopura and assess the fusion of heritage memorials and the relatively newer establishments, that comprise of shops and offices, in the area. We shall stop at the Clock Tower and explore the small eateries around it, and what keeps them alive and buzzing even today. We shall then walk towards Tambekar Wada, which was made by the Gaekwad rulers and houses beautiful murals depicting stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata. This provides testimony to the fact that art and culture thrived in Baroda during the Gaekwad rule. We shall discuss various murals and draw comparisons, and end our walk outside Tambekar Wada.

This guided tour is free.
