Exploring the Portuguese Architecture of Fontainhas

About the walk

Fontainhas offers visitors the chance to walk through history and explore Goa’s Portuguese heritage. Translating to ‘little fountain’, the quarter derives its name from the fountain at the foot of the hills that surround the area. We will begin our walk at the historic Tobacco Square. We will then walk down the narrow lanes of Fontainhas and explore its history. The lanes of Fontainhas have vibrant, colourful houses that display amazing Portuguese architecture. The area is also peppered with places to eat and drink.

Come visit Fontainhas and experience Goa's Portuguese culture and history.

This guided tour is free.
