Exploring Religious Hubs of Thane City

About the walk

Thane is a town that has been on the maps of history since the times of the Arabs in India. Situated on the banks of a creek, and in the nook of the Western Ghats, it is not only culturally diverse but also historically rich. Over time, Thane has become a melting pot of many cultures and religions, and civilisational changes can be witnessed on every street and corner of the town.

But the story of Thane still revolves around the Masunda Lake, the city's oldest lake, as well as its significant landmarks--the oldest Shiva temple, a Shvetambara Jain Derasar, and the first synagogue of the district.

Join us on this walk as we visit some lesser-known religious centres, and experience the multicultural history of Thane.

This guided tour is free.
