About the walk

Balaji Bajirao, also known, as Nana Saheb Peshwa was a visionary who played an important role in the development of Pune. He selected a site on the summit of a hill and commenced the stonework in 1748. The temples of Parvati Hill rose to prominence in due course of time and witnessed many important events in the history of Pune. These temples were visited by Nana Saheb daily, owing to their beauty, and continue to attract visitors today.

This walk shall take you the various historical events that the hill witnessed.

Sourabh Marathe- He is a conservation architect, Indologist by profession, currently working with Symbiosis Skills and Open University with their School of Architecture as assistant professor. He is a member of ICOMOS, INTACH , COA, IIA and has been conducting heritage walks across the city since last few years.

Please Note

  • Photography allowed. Please respect the privacy of the residents. Avoid photography if someone objects.
  • Entry ticket of the museum/ gallery to be purchased by the participant.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and a cap, and carry water. Carry an umbrella/raincoat, if required.
  • Public transport is recommended for commuting as there is limited parking available in the complex.
  • Meeting point is from where the steps to ascend Parvati Hill begin. The walk requires climbing up the hill, please come prepared.
  • Visiting the museum is not a part of the walk, but one may do so after the walk. Entry charges for the museum are to be paid at the entrance.
