Feasting at the Ramzan Mela in Mominpura

About the walk

During the month of Ramzan, devotees abstain from food and water until dusk every day. It is only after Maghrib (dusk) prayers that one is allowed to break his or her fast, and that event is called iftar. A special mela is organised in Mominpura during Ramzan, with numerous stalls selling food, clothes, ittar (natural perfume), etc.

On this walk, we shall visit the mela, learn about its history and the intangible heritage of our city, and explore the Badi Jama Masjid in Mominpura. We shall also savour some of the special iftar fare, such as coconut nankhatai, bun omelette, and the very famous dabba.

This guided tour is free.
