About the walk

With the annual Ganeshotsav beginning on the 2nd of September this year, the festive season beckons! This festival is celebrated with great fervour across Pune. Join us to get glimpses of the festival, it’s history and the grand pandals built for the occasion! We will take a short walk to explore the old city and its lively streets. Through its food and its history, we will discover a little piece of Pune.
We will start our walk at Shaniwar Wada, explore its premises and then head out to see the ongoing preparations for Diwali. Here, we will find all kinds of goods for sale, from flowers to candles and incense.

After studying biotechnology and business administration, Kshitija found her passion in food. She has a master’s in Indology from Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth Pune and is now planning to delve into food history and various food traditions. She loves trekking in the Himalayas and window gardening.

  • There are two dedicated parking lots near Mandai, but given that the streets are narrow and the parking fills up very fast, we recommend that you take public transport.
  • Shopping costs are to be borne by the participants.
  • No entry fee to the monuments.
  • Photography is allowed in select places.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and carry an umbrella/cap and a bottle of drinking water.
