Celebrating World Heritage Day - An Arts Walk in Bengaluru’s NGMA

About the walk

The National Gallery of Modern Art, Bengaluru, is housed in the premises of the Manikyavelu Mansion, a gracious heritage building that constitutes a unique typology in India, with a strong cultural/historical position as a representative of a bygone era. The Gallery stands as a repository of the cultural ethos of the country and showcases Indian art--starting from the early 18th century till the present times.

The walk is tailored for young students who aspire to seek careers in art, design and architecture. Through a series of design, photography and sketching exercises, it hopes to help them bring out their own ideas and opinions about history and revival of places. They shall be introduced to design thinking and shall learn about how art is part of the process of understanding their neighbourhoods and society. Furthermore, the students will be encouraged to question the importance of the built legacy by exploring the gallery premises and art pieces, drawing inspiration and putting together observations.

This is a custom walk for the students of Design Quotient Labs, Bengaluru. This walk is not open to others.
