About the Talk

Basant or spring is heralded by Falgun, the month of Holi, and the season ends with Chait. Gulab bari (garden of roses) is an offering to Radha and Krishna during Holi celebrations. The offering is made with Chaiti roses and is accompanied by music and dance, as rose petals and rose water is showered on the guests and artistes while they celebrate. The gulab bari tradition is centuries old and is observed with splendour in Varanasi.

We try to create the same memorable gulab bari in Prayagraj too.  As part of it, men dress in white and drape pink dupattas while women dress in pink.  Falgun songs and Chaitis are sung that one can’t help tapping their feet too. In this experience, we welcome our participants to join in all the fun.
