About the walk

Among the many historical sites in the city of Guwahati, Panbazar contains multiple examples of tangible heritage. One such site is Cotton College (now Cotton University), one of the most prestigious colleges of the Northeast that was founded by Sir Henry Cotton in the year 1901. Panbazar is also where famous bakeries and the go-to book district in the city are located. These places have served as nuclei for other recreational activities in its vicinity. A variety of tempting street food is also found at Panbazar.

On this walk, we will learn about these landmarks and how the area has evolved over the years.

Uman Dutta Gogoi was born and brought up in Guwahati. Her passion for her city is derived from her sense of gratitude for the city that has nurtured her. Fresh out of The National Institute of Technology, Patna, she is an architect who also harbours an aspiration to develop her surroundings into a global hub for creativity and innovation, at the core of which she foresees a focus on culture and Architecture.
