The Hidden Gems of Baner

About the walk

Resting at the base of Western Ghats, Baner is an uptown suburb of Pune. It is situated on one of the main approach roads on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Although we pass this road countless times, many hardly know that there is a cave temple on the Baner Hill. Likewise, little do we know that there is a small river in Baner. Once a village, Baner was known for its agriculture and home to the Warkari community. The various temples found in the village stand testimony to the past.

Let us explore the hill to listen to stories about the small village of yore. This walk aims to throw some light on the heritage of Baner Hill and its fast-disappearing village ecology.
