The Historic Marvels of Dhubri Town

About the walk

Dhubri Districtthe gateway of western Assamhad a glorious past as it was an important administrative centre under British rule. It was also a place where different ethnic groups mingled, giving it a unique cultural heritage and historical background. Language, art and religion flourished in the area because of the processes of migration and assimilation of various races, castes, and creeds. Today, traces of this splendid heritage and culture can be found in the remains of majestic colonial-era buildings that greet one at every nook and corner of the historical town.

In this walk we shall visit several sites of the colonial-era present in Dhubri town such as Victoria Park(1905), Brahmo Mandir (1875), Armenian Church (circa 1765), Gurudwara (16th century), D.C. Bungalow (1879), Meteorological Tower (circa 1765), Netai Dhubuni Ghat, Panch Pir Dargah (1662), District Museum Dhubri (1988), Post Office Building (1879), Circuit House (1879), Treasury Office building (1765), Tennis Court (1879), S.P. Bungalow (1879) Municipality Building (1883), Daak Bungalow (1879), D.F.O. Bungalow (1879), and marvel at the astonishing architecture and history.

He started his early career in the year 2013 as Assistant Curator at Sanskriti Museums, New Delhi. Mrinmoy has an experience of 8 years in the field of Museums and has undergone several National and International trainings in this field. He is also the founder member of the virtual museum www.abhijna-emuseum.com.
