The Jackfruit Village - Ulsoor

About the walk

Ulsoor’s bustling bazaar can overload anybody’s senses: from the burst of colours at the flower market to the cacophony of vendors selling their wares, there’s something for everybody in this little hamlet. And hidden underneath these layers of vibrancy lie thousands of years of history. Join us on this guided tour of one of Bangalore’s oldest localities, and explore how a multitude of heterogeneous communities have come together to shape this locality into what it is today.

On this walk, we will explore the oldest part of Ulsoor, the Someshwara Temple, and see how various religious identities have co-existed for the past few centuries. We will also go beyond the obvious, and explore the by-lanes where rice mills, hidden lakes and unique regional architectural structures lie hidden.
