About the walk

The temple devoted to Kamakhya, ‘the bleeding goddess’, is one of the oldest amongst the 51 Shakti Peethas. It is believed to be one of the most powerful temples in India. Situated on Nilachal hill in the western part of Guwahati, the site is the abode of the Mahavidyas (wisdom goddesses) of Shaktism. The sacred landscape of Kamakhya holds tremendous beauty and grandeur, both historically and architecturally. It remains one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites in the world.

So, let’s take a walk through the Kamakhya temple and explore the hidden beauty and significance of this pious wonder of North East India.
