The National Rail Museum in Chanakyapuri is a testament to the 160 year history of the Indian Railways. Through  more than 90 life-size exhibits, the museum displays locomotives, coaches, saloons and memorabilia related to the railways. Opened on the 1st of February, 1977 the museum is for everyone, kids as well as rail and heritage enthusiasts. 

 

In this walk we shall explore the history, emergence and development of railways in India. As we walk by the outdoor exhibits along the tracks, we will take a look at some of the most prized locomotives and treasures on display, including the Royal Salons, Viceregal Dining Car and theDarjeeling Himalayan Railway Engine

  • Please note that the entry ticket including the Museum ticket costs Rs. 100/- for adults, and Rs. 20/- for kids which is to be borne by the participant. 
  • Please note that tickets for train rides has to be borne by the participant. All tickets will be available at the entrance of the museum. Kindly reach early to avoid que at the ticket counter. 
  • Carry drinking water and wear comfortable and appropriate footwear.
  •  NDMC parking facility is available near the Museum.
