Sair -i- Khaas - A Trip to the Historic Neighbourhood of Moti Masjid

About the walk

This event is ticketed.

Very few know that the erstwhile walled city of Bhopal was also known as ‘Sheher-e-Khaas’. In this walk, we will explore some of heritage wonders of Bhopal. The walk starts from a beautiful nineteenth-century mosque called Moti Masjid, followed by Iqbal Maidan, and from there, through the narrow alleys, to the first palace of Bhopal, Gauhar Mahal. We will also talk about Allama Iqbal, author of the emotionally charged anthem ‘Sare jahan se achha’, and his connection to the city of Bhopal. Other historic attractions covered on the way will be Sadar Manzil, Seedhi Ghat Masjid, Baab-e-Sikandri, Pari Ghaat, Shaukat Mahal and Hamid Manzil. And  finally, what better way to end a walk in the morning than with some poha jalebi and hot chai at the famous Raju Tea Stall.
