First Lancer is an area located at the base of Banjara Hills and was once a catchment area for the Himatyat Sagar. Today, First Lancer is a bustling neighbourhood with a rich military history belonging to the erstwhile Hyderabad state. In this walk, we will trace the structure and stories of the  military past of Hyderabad. The area houses a popular Irani cafe called Banjara Cafe. First Lancer also houses one of the largest Eidgah of Hyderabad, but the most famous landmark of this locality is Dargah of Ahmed Baad e Paa (R.H), aka, the Flying Sufi Saint. Come join us for this walk to unravel the stories of First L ancer and its past.

Please Note

  • There aren’t many parking spaces for cars, so drop in early or use public transport or a shared cab. Bike parking is easy.
  • No entry fee to the monument.
  • Photography is allowed but it should be avoided in some places as per walk leader’s advice.  
  • Kindly note that this walk is around 2 km with plenty of stops.
  • Wear casuals but be well covered. The head scarf is a must for women, and handkerchief or skull cap, a must  for men. No shorts and half pants will be allowed as it is a religious place. Footwear needs to be removed at the entrance, so wear accordingly.
  • Get a bottle of water and munchies to stay hydrated and energised. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
