A Trail Through the Traditional Bazaar of Jodhpur

About the walk

The Ada and Ubha Bazaars are primary streets in the walled city of Jodhpur, used for commercial, residential, religious and social purposes. Since ancient times, these marketplaces have been an important part of the city. Today, they not only contribute to the economy of the city, but are also tourist attractions. This bazaar region contributes close to a million dollars in profit per week to the city.

It has been known to be difficult for the people of traditional towns like Jodhpur to reorient themselves with the 'modern times'. Thus, vernacular towns like Jodhpur have lagged behind in many aspects of social change in modern India.

Join us for this heritage walk wherein we will discover the bazaar’s history, culture, architectural nuances, and also enjoy the street food en route. The walk starts from the Mandi Square (Juni Mandi) and ends at the Ghanta Ghar (Sardar Market).

This guided tour is free.
