About the walk

Any person who commutes via the Mumbai local’s Central Line is used to hearing the unique way in which this station is announced. But have you ever wondered why this place came to be known as ‘Sion’ and ‘Shiv’? Situated on the northern-most limit of the old city of Bombay, Sion has a witnessed its fair share of colonial history. This unique area was surrounded by hillocks overlooking patches of barren land, until it gradually grew to be the heart of Mumbai. Its streets are filled with relics from bygone eras, waiting for their stories to be told.

For an entertaining break from your daily routine, get off that local train and take a tour through the calm forts and the buzzing streets of Sion!
