A Walk Down Memory Lane in Richmond Town

About the walk

The quiet neighbourhood of Richmond Town has a vibrant history. Be it Walker Lane, Leonard Lane or the many quintessential colonial bungalows lining the streets, this locality has a rich heritage with a treasure trove of stories waiting to be told.

Join us as we explore the by-lanes that house landmarks such as the local church and the Richmond Institute. We will learn about the history of the mud tank, visit the legendary Koshy’s Bakery and listen to the anecdotes and memories that bind the residents to this locality. This area’s unique connections to Persian traders and horses will also be explored.

Bangalore was originally a trade centre. Although it has changed over the years, the bazaars have consistently remained an important element of the city. Bangalore’s covered bazaars are the city’s main public spaces, creating a unique sense of place and generating memories of the neighbourhood. Thus, we will also explore the bustling Johnson Market with its unique architecture and end this walk on a mini food trail to experience the delicacies found in the bazaar.

This guided tour is free.
