Sardar Government Museum is situated inside the Umaid Garden (Public Park) on Old High Court road, Jodhpur. This museum was constructed during the reign of H.H. Maharaja Umaid Singh Ji (creator of morden Marwar). The map or sketch of the garden and museum was made by famous architect M.A. Goldstraw.
The museum houses a collection of various weapons, textiles, miniature portraits and local arts and crafts, and is one of the rarest museums to have a zoo and a library in the same compound, which had fallen into disrepair. However, recently, under the initiative of the state government and the Archeological Survey of India Jodhpur Circle, the museum was renovated and opened for the public.
Join us as we explore the history, people, culture and architecture of Jodhpur at the Sardar Government Museum.
