About the walk

The Kerala Museum at Edappally is one of Kochi's oldest museums. With works by modern masters such as Jamini Roy, Ramkinkar Baij, M.F. Husain, Ram Kumar, K.G. Subramanyan and Bhupen Khakhar, the museum's extraordinarily rich art collection is the only one of its kind in Kerala.

This art walk at the Gallery of Contemporary and Modern Art, Kerala Museum, takes participants through the collection of R. Madhavan Nayar, a pioneer who envisioned building an art resource for the public. The walk will be led by artist Aditi Nayar, the grand-niece of Madhavan Nayar. Join us to explore the key ideas that influenced India's art movements and collectives, and examine 20th century masters and their artworks.

Aditi Nayar
Born in Cochin, educated at St.Xavier’s College, Bombay, Chelsea College of Art and then at the Wimbledon College of Art in London, artist Aditi Zacharias works across a range of media from video and audio installations to kinetic sculpture, latex, fibre glass, rope and oil on canvas. Her emphasis on concept is supported by a strong experimental technique. Uppermost is her concern with the predictability of human responses to stimuli. In her work we see an attempt to depict our ever shrinking…
