Amber Fort in its Grandeur

Rajput kings were patrons of arts and also brave warriors. During this experience, we will explore forts and palaces where the walls still stand as testaments to their times. They tell stories of brutal wars and cunning war strategies but also resonate with the sound of music and dance. The story of valorous Rajput men and equally courageous and beautiful women have jogged the fantasy of many. But time has a way of erasing facts. Was there ever a Jodha married to a barbaric Mughal ruler? What about her nephew Man Singh, who grew up to be a loyal soldier to the same Mughal emperor? Through this experience, we will locate these stories and many others the fort has to offer.

The winding hilltop journey of a war-ready fort will stand in contrast to the luxury that lay beyond the embankments. We will explore the imperial opulence in the face of a rich martial legacy.

We will make stops at the many temples both inside and outside the fort complex. These temples belong to Jain, Shaiva, Shakti and Vaishnava sects. These sites meld political history seamlessly with social history using the thread of religion. The walk will end in time for participants to attend the light and sound show held at the Amber Fort.
