Theagaraya Nagar: Trade And Justice

About the walk

Tamil Nadu’s politics are unique. So are our silk sarees. T Nagar is the confluence of both!

This area was born out of the rise of the revolutionary politics of the 'Justice' party that has changed Dravidian politics since. The walk will explore the origins of the first planned neighborhood of Madras. It will uncover some stories behind the city's most beloved businesses from Nalli Silks to the Saravana Stores empire and the reason as to why T Nagar is one of the country's most prosperous business districts. A walk through T Nagar represents the post-colonial Indian dream at its best!

This experience is specially curated for students from Kaveri High School, and is not open to the public.
