About the walk

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya in Mumbai, formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum, is one of the best museums in India. Designed by the well-known British architect George Wittet in the characteristic Indo-Saracenic style, this lofty edifice houses a rich collection of artefacts and antiquities, ranging from pre-historic tools to modern paintings. The walk shall include a visit to the main galleries of the museum, where the leader will explain the details about the artefacts on display.

  • Buses/taxis can be hired from Churchgate and CSMT railway stations. Bus Numbers from Churchgate to the Museum - 70, 106,122, 123, 132, 137 and Bus Numbers from CSMT-14,69,101,130.
  • The participants will have to buy their own tickets, details of which are as follows: Indian Adult (above 12 years)- Rs 85/-, Foreign Adult (above 12 years)- Rs 500/-, Children (5-12 years)- Rs. 20/-, College Students with a valid ID Card- Rs. 40/-, Senior Citizens (Above 60 years)- Rs 60/- and Defence Personnel-Rs 60/-.
  • Photography allowed but with a charge (Mobiles or Tabs- Rs 50/-, Camera without tripod-Rs. 100/-, Camera with a tripod- Rs. 5000/-). The participants who are interested in taking photographs will have to pay the photography fees.
  • Carry drinking water and wear comfortable shoes.
  • Parking available at the museum.
