About the walk

Aside from being a junction on Mumbai’s central line, Kalyan is also an important historical city in Maharashtra. Not far from Kalyan lie two jewels of the ancient period.

One was built by to the Konkan Mauryas and the other is from the Shilahara period. One is a Buddhist site while the other is dedicated to Shiva. Hidden from sight and located among a beautiful landscape of hills, these areas hold rare evidence of Kalyan’s once-prosperous ancient past.

These monuments not only glorify history but also present the art and architecture of their times. Let’s visit these lesser-known sites and listen to the unheard stories of Kalyan’s past.
