Exploring the Transformation of Canning Road to MG Marg

About the walk

Come December and the sun-warmed streets of Allahabad beckon you. The arterial road of colonial Allahabad has undergone various transformations for the last 150 years. From villages that were razed by the British in retaliation, to the first battle of independence to form Cannington, this city has been ravaged by history. The insecurity felt by the British led to clear demarcations in the new city. Let us explore this part of the colonial city and the changes that have emerged over the years. Let us discover the hidden stories treasured within this road. This walk will help us view and understand what remains of the market and the residence of the British in a new avatar.

This guided tour is free.
